(2/23/2010) Congratulations to DC EDGE who earned three medals at the 2010 Eastern Synchronized Skating Championships, where the Adult and Masters teams qualified to compete at the 2010 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in March. The Masters team won the Gold. Both the Adult and Open Adult teams took home Silver medals. Competing two weeks later, the DC EDGE Beginner 1 and 2 teams won the Bronze and Silver medals, respectively, at the 2010 Reflections Invitational!

2010 Junior Nationals(12/19/2009) Congratulations to Rachel Parsons and Kyle MacMillan for winning gold in Intermediate Dance at the 2010 U.S. Junior Championships, 12/14-19! Last year they won gold in Juvenile Dance. Ross Gudis and Elliana Pogrebinsky (Peninsula SC) won the Intermediate Dance bronze medal. Also skating were Oleksiy Melnyk (Int. Men A, 13th); Katherine Gourianova / Andrew Hickey (Juv. Dance); Briana Laxson, Kit Albaugh, Maria Yang, and Brynne McIsaac (Juv. Girls). Full Results.

2010 Nationals(12/16/2009) WFSC will be sending 10 skaters to the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, January 14th through 24th, in Spokane, Washington. With the exception of Armin Mahbanoozadeh, who received a bye due to his two grand prix assignments, all skaters qualified to compete at nationals by finishing in the top four spots in their disciplines at 2010 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championship, November 17-21, Newark, DE. Novice Ice dancers swept three of the top four spots. Danvi and Vu Pham won the gold, Kristina Rexford and Michael Parsons took home the bronze, and Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter grabbed the pewter. Brett Dunie Neustadt, and Meredith Pipkin (University of Delaware FSC) finished 4th in Novice Pairs. Gabrielle Friedenberg and Benjamin Nykiel (Bowie FSC) earned a bronze medal in Junior Dance. Haley Dunne skated to a 4th place finish in Junior Ladies, as did Kristine Musademba in Senior Ladies. Lauren Corry and Alexander Lorello (University of Delaware FSC) finished 1st in Senior Dance. Also competing were Joanna Nishimoto, Samantha Veloso (Junior Ladies); Bryant Lampkin, Brett Dunie Neustadt (Novice Pairs); Complete Easterns results.

Ashburn Ice Angels(12/9/2009) Congratulations to our synchro teams. The Ashburn Ice Angels Synchronized Skating Teams competed at the Terry Conners Synchronized Skating Open, Stamford CT, 12/7/2009. Intermediate Team - 1st place; Beginner 3 team - 1st place; Beginner 1 - Group B - 3rd place; and Preliminary Team - 4th place. DC Edge brought home silver in the Masters Free Skate at the Dr. Richard Porter Sychronized Classic 2009. The National Blades came home with 4 gold medals and one bronze from the Mountain State Synchro Competition.

2010 South Atlantic Regional Championships(10/14/2009) Congratulations to all our skaters at the 2010 South Atlantic Regional Championships as well as the Non-Qualifying Competition. Click on each link for Results. Thanks to the many, many volunteers who donated their time and energy to make this such a successful event.

Robbins and Musademba(9/8/2009) Kristine Musademba has done it again, bringing home the gold medal from the ISU 2009 Junior Grand Prix, Lake Placid, in a field of 26 skaters! She now moves into the Senior Ladies Top 20 list where she is currently ranked 19th in the world. Very impressive! Charlotte Robbins also competed, representing Great Britain placing 12th overall in her JGP debut with a clean program and a personal best score.

Friedenberg/Nykiel (8/27/2009) Congratulations to Gabrielle Friedenberg and Benjamin Nykiel (Bowie) who won Junior Dance at the BC/YT SummerSkate 20 in Burnaby, BC. WFSC also won three more gold medals at the USFS Developmental Internationals Quebec Summer Championships, August 6-9 in Pierrefonds, Quebec. Haley Dunne won Junior FS, Danvi Pham and Vu Pham won Novice Dance; Brett Dunie Neustadt and his partner Meredith Pipkin not only got first place in Novice pairs but were also selected for an upcoming JGP!

(7/3/2009) Congratulations to these WFSC skaters who have been selected for the developmental internationals in Canada: Haley Dunne, Junior Ladies, Quebec Summer Competition, and Brett Dunie-Neustadt, pairs; and Danvi Pham/ Vu Pham, Novice Dance. Gabrielle Friedenberg and her partner Benjamin Nykiel have been assigned to represent the US in junior dance at the BC/YT Section Summerskate in Burnably, British Columbia, August 12-16th. Brett and his partner Meredith Pipkin were selected for an as of yet unnamed Junior Grand Prix event. Kristine Musademba has also been selected for a Junior Grand Prix.

(2/5/2009) Congratulations to DC EDGE for their performance at the 2009 Easterns Synchronized Skating Championships. The Masters team won the gold in their division, the Adult team came in second in theirs, and the Open Adult team finished 4th in theirs. Full results and videos. The Masters and Adult teams both qualified to compete at Nationals, March 3-7 in Portland, Maine.

Rachel Parsons and Kyle MacMillan - 2009 US National Juvenile Dance Champions(12/24/08) Congratulations to Rachel Parsons and Kyle MacMillan, the 2009 US National Juvenile Dance Champions!!! The couple, who each turned 11 in November, placed first in both of the compulsories - Ten Fox and Fiesta Tango - as well as the Free Dance. (9-27-2008) The United States medaled in all three disciplines at the JGP event last week in Madrid, Spain, winning two golds and two silvers. Kristine Musademba won the ladies gold, while Armin Mahbanoozadeh collected the men's gold. Congratulations to our elite skaters!

(3/11/08) 1998 World Junior Champion Derrick Delmore announced his retirement from competitive singles skating. He has represented the Washington Figure Skating Club for nearly two decades. Derrick is a 2000 Stanford University graduate and a member of USFS's 1996 Scholastic Honors Team. WFSC wishes him the best of luck.

(1/26/08) Although she placed 2nd in both the long and short programs, Ashley Wagner won the Senior Ladies bronze medal. She is the seventh WFSC member to qualify for Worlds and the first to qualify in Ladies!

Parker Pennington and Derrick Delmore finished 11th and 15th place respectively in the Senior Men's competition.

(1/24/08) Kristine Musademba won the Pewter Medal in Junior Ladies!

Armin Mahbanoozadeh came in 6th in the Junior Mens free skate to move him up to an 8th place final finish.

(11/26/07) WFSC's Ashley Wagner received excellent press in USA Today after winning the bronze medal at the 2007 Trophee Eric Bompard Senior Grand Prix in Paris, November 16-18. Congratulations to Ashley on this great accomplishment!

Patsy Picken(11/20/07) It is with sadness we note the passing of Patsy Picken on Monday, November 19th. She was a long-time WFSC judge, skater, and active member. In 1945, Patsy became WFSC's first National Champion when she and Walter (Red) Bainbridge claimed the Silver Dance title (now known as Junior Dance).

(11/4/07) WFSC brought home 26 medals, including 12 gold, from the IceWorks Halloween Adult Classic 2007. Team "Ballston Rocks, Kids Watch Out" (shown at left) won the gold medal in Silver/Gold Team Maneuvers. Results of all WFSC skaters. Photos are available for purchase

(11/4/07) Ashley Wagner did well in her very first Senior Grand Prix, placing 5th in a field of 12 ladies at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2007/2008, Skate Canada International in Quebec City, Canada. USFS Results.

(10/23/07) After only their first year of JGP competition, Armin Mahbanoozadeh and Kristine Musademba have both qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in Gdansk, Poland. This is an exciting moment for Washington Figure Skating! Best of luck to both skaters!

(10/20/07) WFSC Skaters brought home 80 medals from the Non-Qualifying 2008 South Atlantic Regional Championships in York PA. These included 21 Gold Medals, 23 Silver, 15 Bronze, and 21 Pewter! WFSC even participated in one event with 8 entries!!! We also had events (one each) with 7, 6 and 5 skaters! Congratulations to all our skaters! Details.

(10/13/07) Parker Pennington won the silver medal at Finlandia Trophy. He was 1st in the long and 4th in the short. A new member of WFSC, he has a very distinguished record, winning national championships at every level from juvenile to junior. Congratulations to Parker!

(10/9/07) Congratulations to Lisa Yee who passed her Senior FS and to Honi Jurison passed her Senior Moves in August.

(10/9/07) Club members Victoria Suttora, Kyle MacMillan, Lorraine McNamara, Quinn Carpenter, Danvi Pham, and Vu Pham, along with Coach Alexei Kiliakov, were featured in a WUSA9 news story on October 8, 2007 about the Wheaton Ice Skating Academy. (9/29/07) Armin Mahbanoozadeh won his second Jr. Grand Prix medal in only his second Jr. Grand Prix event today at the ISU JGP Croatia Cup, where he received the bronze medal for Junior Men!

(6/2/07) Ashley Wagner won the 2007 Wheeler Award for her motivation, sportsmanship, and recent accomplishments. Congratulations to Ashley!

(5/27/07) A certificate was presented by the USFS Governing Council to Washington FSC for conducting the most tests in 2006 of any club in the United States! Freestyle Test Chair Pat Brockner accepted the award in Reno, Nevada on behalf of the Club. (4/14/07) Washington Figure Skating Club brought home 16 medals from the 2007 U.S. Adult Championships in Chicago!! 4 Gold, 3 Silver, 5 Bronze, and 4 Pewter. Congratulations to all our Adult Skaters.

(3/4/07) Congratulations to Ashley Wagner who won the Junior Ladies' bronze medal at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Germany. It was an American sweep in the ladies competition. USFS story. Ashley is the third member of the WFSC to win a medal at Junior Worlds. Derrick Delmore won the gold medal in 1998 and Michael Weiss won the gold medal in 1994 and the silver medal in 1993.

(2/25/07) Congratulations to Ice Force One Masters Team who took home the Bronze medal at the 2007 US Synchronized Skating Championships, which were held in Colorado Springs, CO, February 21-24, 2007.
