Minutes of the Board of Governors Meeting
Total year-to-date income is $34,375.72 and total expenses are $20,697.09. The board approved the revised budget totaling $97,800 for the 2001-2002 season. The report on session income shows that club sessions are operating at a loss as follows: Mt. Vernon Sunday Dance (figure from first 4 weeks), -42%; Sunday Moves in the Field and Family Sessions (4 weeks), -21% and ^35% respectively; Monday Dance at Cabin John (4 weeks), -30%; and Saturday Dance at Reston (9 weeks), -46%.
Membership totals 626 with 578 home club members. The rink and programming committee is working to obtain ice for the Pliť Power class, with a potential start date in January 2002. There were 46 participants in the Nov. 11 seminar, representing a diverse group of adults, juniors and parents from a wide geographic area. The committee is investigating a future seminar on judging led by Ron DeiCas, perhaps in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. It was recommended that the committee also look into coordinating with a spring PSA seminar to take advantage of the presence of out-of-area speakers.
The New Year's Adult Invitational Competition will be patterned on the Atlanta Adult Open competition. The club has received a contract with Ashburn Ice House for 14 hours, running until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, and until 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002. Additional time may be available on Friday afternoon. January 4, 2002 was established as the deadline for entries and the announcement form was finalized. The Club Freestyle Competition announcement was mailed with the October Blade.
Announcements: Dorothy Dodson is seeking bids to host the 2002 Commonwealth State Games. Gabrielle Friedenberg and Brett Dunie-Neustadt will compete in Juvenile Pairs at Junior Nationals. An official press conference for Worlds 2003 is scheduled for Dec. 11, 2001 at Ft. DuPont Ice Rink.
